A lively workshop at the 2013 Gathering looked at the perennial problem of overgrazing by Scotland’s poorly-managed deer populations. Little did we know that just weeks later the Scottish Parliament’s influential Rural Affairs, Climate Change and Environment Committee, convened by Ron Gibson MP, would start an investigation into the subject. With a short deadline, we pulled out the stops and got in a submission, the Impact and Management of Deer in Scotland.

Reforesting Scotland are investigating the possibility of developing a training programme over the next year or two, focusing on practical woodland-related courses and workshops that are currently hard to find or not available in Scotland. Read more…
