Journal 72: Succession

The Autumn 2025 issue’s theme is Succession, the passing on of leadership in ecological restoration projects to the next generation. With articles from writers all under 40 years of age it’s an insightful and inspiring read. Learn about the Laikenbuie Ecology Trust, landscape restoration with Affric Highlands and Cairngorms Connect, some lessons from New Zealand and a new land stewardship project which includes making reparation for slavery.

Our regular features include an inspiring update from Sophie Ramsay on ecological restoration at Bamff, Artists in Wood on how artists are keeping shieling culture alive, a Letter from Palestine, forest flavours courtesy of East Lothian-based Buck and Birch, Broughtonknowe Community Woodland and questions on Cashel, which might not be ‘a Forest for a Thousand Years’ after all.
