The autumn 2026 issue of the Journal makes for the seaside with a theme of ‘Coast’ and an exploration of coastal habitats and sustainable livelihoods.
Coastal woodlands form an important part of the ambitious landscape-scale SCAMP project in Dumfries & Galloway. We hear about how low-energy salt is produced in an innovative way at Blackthorn Salt and how to create shelter belts in Shetland. Dune restoration takes place at Findhorn Hinterland, and Raasay is using a community approach to eradicate rhododendron. We find out about seaweed farming on the west coast, the plans for a new sail training vessel and how the coastal rowing project is bringing communities together.
